Mari Jo and Jamie were hired to inspect a property I was purchasing. The house had many features I have never worked with before, including an air re-circulation system, cedar shake roofing, zone heating/cooling and a recirculating tub. These features and a few others had made me uneasy but the team at REI took the time to explain how, not only they worked but shared experiences they had with these types of systems and what to expect.
The confidence they gave me put all my worries at ease.
The two spent at least 5 hours at the property, and thorough hardly describes it. Every single outlet was tested, every light, breaker, GFCI switch, sprinkler zone and more…
The report I received that same day was an entire book of suggestions, issues, and perks. Complete with descriptions, photos and highlights. The report helped me go back to the sellers and they fixed everything that we asked for AND we got some serious cash off.
Mari Jo and Jamie were worth their cost literally 10 times over for me. I was so impressed that I will be hiring them again to do an inspection on the house I am moving out of and selling to find any issues up front!

“I highly recommend REI for your home inspection. I hired Jamie and Mari Jo to inspect a cabin we were purchasing. There were many issues with the cabin that concerned me; so I was very fortunate to have chosen them for the inspection. They were very thorough and spent at least 5 hours at the property performing the inspection and then giving me a very comprehensive explanation of their findings. I received the final report, which was very detailed and included pictures, later that same day. Their thorough and very professional report gave us great leverage to amend our purchase agreement and have the sellers address the issues and complete some costly work prior to closing. “As we approached our potential property we saw Jamie in a hazmat suit going into the crawlspace of our potential cabin with Mary Jo, in hand, with an I Pad for documentation. It was then that my father and I knew this was going to be a great inspection done with integrity and accountability . We are/were first timers for cabin living in Northern Minnesota and feel after our personal meeting (not so much business) that we could make a great adjustment to our new cabin and will live the life the way we have always wanted! NO WORRIES… They both had my father and I talking about how great they both were prior to talking about issues with the cabin! “Just recently (March 2018) had an inspection done by REI. They were prompt to return my call, extremely professional during the entire time I was working with them, and thorough hardly begins to describe the great job they did.
Very personable, and easy to understand, Jamie and Mari Jo made sure I was comfortable understanding their information and notes before moving on to the next subject.
Their final report was incredibly detailed and they were precise with locations of issues, detailed on what they would recommend, and completely transparent on what they found.

Without a doubt REI is very thorough and trustworthy inspectors. They came to my home to inspect for the buyers of my home who hired them. They thoroughly inspected my home finding problems needing repair, that I was unaware of and should have been informed of, by the previous Inspector when I purchased this home two years ago. I realized that when I required an inspection prior to my purchasing this/my home. I had a shoe in inspector who should have brought to light these deficiencies and I could have had them addressed to the previous seller for repairs. I now have to pay to fix these issues prior to my sale. So, it is essential for both the buyer and seller to address the issues when necessary to avoid any delays in the purchase / sale of their home. I bring this learning lesson to light hopefully for others to know the importance of a good home inspection whether you are a buyer or a seller. REI sets the precedence for a thorough and trustworthy inspection for other inspectors to follow.
